Transmission electron microscopy of Candida albicans cells treated with L12P and L18R peptides. Approximately 107 yeast cells were incubated without (panels A–C, controls) or with the selected peptides (125 μg/ml) (panels D–F, cells treated with peptide L12P; panels G–I, cells treated with peptide L18R) for 60 min. Still intact cells treated with both peptides presented cytoplasmic changes with the presence of a number of microbodies (panels D,E,F,I), membrane retraction and cell wall alteration (panels D,F,G,H).
