Effects of p‐CPA on butyrate‐induced visceral hypersensitivity to CRD in rats. Rats were administered 300 mg·kg⁻¹ p‐CPA (a 5‐HT synthesis inhibitor) or vehicle (0.1% Tween‐80), p.o., once daily for 3 days. Thirty minutes after each treatment, sodium butyrate or saline was administered via colonic administration. The next day, after the last administration of butyrate, the CRD test was performed (A).
