OA inhibited the growth of CAL27 xenograft tumors in nude mice. CAL27 xenograft tumors were treated with OA (2 or 4 mg/kg, i.p, every two days) or (0.2 ml saline as control) for 14 times, and the animals were euthanized on day 40. (a) Representative photographs of the gross tumors from nude mice. (b) Graphs represent the average tumor volumes of CAL27 xenografts in mice from the control and OA-treated groups. (c) Graphs represent the average weights of tumors from the control and OA-treated groups (*p < 0.05, **p < 0.01). (d) The expression of p-Akt, p-mTOR, p-S6K, and the cleavage of caspase-3 was detected by immunohistochemical staining and the expression of p-Akt, p-mTOR, and p-S6K was decreased and cleaved-caspase-3 expression was induced after OA treatment.
