Protection accorded by naringenin in ROS generation and MMP of diabetic rats. (a) ROS generation assessed by spectrofluorometry using fluoroprobe DCFH-DA. Results are represented as fold of DCF fluorescence as compared to control. (b) Induction of mitochondrial membrane collapse in hepatocytes isolated from control, diabetic and diabetic treated rats. Mitochondrial membrane potential of treated and control cells was assessed by fluorescent spectrophotometer using JC-1. Decrease in the red (polarized)/green (depolarized) fluorescence ratio reflects increased number of depolarized mitochondria.
