VHSV-IVb infection blocks IFN responsiveness. (A) EPC cells were left untreated or treated with IFN (10 U/ml) and infected with VHSV-IVb (MOI = 0.1) at the different time points indicated. Cytopathic effects (CPE) were assessed at 72 h.p.i. (B) EPC cells were transfected with a luciferase reporter driven by the IFITM1 promoter (IFITM1/luc) for 24 h, followed by infection with VHSV-IVb for 24 or 48 h, with or without EPC IFN treatment. Luciferase values were quantified 6 h later and normalized to that of the uninfected, IFN-treated control.
