Alternatively activated macrophages (AAMs) markers correlate positively with gene expression of tight junction (TJ) proteins and negatively with interleukin (IL)-8, IL-18, and collagen gene expression in patients with active ulcerative colitis (UC). Correlation analysis of mRNA levels of (A) IL-10, (B) mannose receptor (MR), and (C) Cluster of Differentiation 1B (CD1B) with mRNA levels of Claudin-1 (CLDN1), zonula occludens-1 (ZO1), E-cadherin (CDH1), occludin (OCLN), IL-8, IL-18, and collagen (COL1A2). Correlation analysis: Spearman’s correlation and significance level adjusted at 0.05.
