Cyclization of GGPP to form ent-copalyl diphosphate is the first committed step of gibberellin biosynthesis in Arabidopsis thaliana and is catalyzed by the class II diterpene cyclase ent-copalyl diphosphate synthase. (S)-15-Aza-14,15-dihydrogeranylgeranyl thiolodiphosphate (1) is an unreactive analogue of substrate GGPP, and 13-aza-13,14-dihydrocopalyl diphosphate (2) is a stereoisomer of a product analogue.
