Schematic drawing of the experimental setup: a centrifugal pump (EWP80, Davies Craig, Victoria, Australia) pumps fluid through a flexible tube (length 1m, inner diameter (ID) 19mm) via a Y‐junction and two flexible tubes (6m, ID 19mm) connected to rigid straight inlet pipes (2m, ID 21.9mm) running along the MRI bed into the flow phantom. The closed loop is completed with a larger outlet pipe (1.5m, ID 76.2mm), a reservoir and flexible tubing (11m, inner diameter 19mm) connecting the reservoir and the pump. The FSI section consists of two inlets, a silicone filament attached to the wall and a single outlet. Further, equispaced data points for comparison of experimental data and numerical results on multiple planes are shown
