Diagram of a vertebrate retina shows its typical multi‐layered structure. The mature Müller cell is characterized by a centralized soma located in the INL, and processes extending to, and forming, the ILM and OLM. The Müller cell processes contain many branches that surround photoreceptor somata and neuronal processes.
