The color-code is the same as in Figure 6. Solutes 1, 2 & 3 were held fixed relative to each other, and only the position of Solute 4 along the X-axis was varied. The separation was measured as the difference in X-coordinates of Solute 4 and Solutes 1 & 2 (which are the same).
