A) Side and B) top views of the three solutes used to form simultaneous hydrogen bonds with a solvent water-bridge. The color-code is the same as in Figure 6. Solutes 1 & 2 were held fixed relative to each other, and only the position of Solute 3 along the X-axis was varied. A solvent water is also shown to indicate the position of the intervening bridge when the solutes are at the most stabilized configuration.
