Mean (SE) effect size deficit of Dot Probe Expectancy (DPX) performance measures in proband groups relative to controls before (dark bars) and after (light bars) adjustment for generalized impairment as indexed by the BACS composite score. Performance deficits were reduced after accounting for generalized neuropsychological impairment and no longer significantly different from controls in schizophrenia and psychotic bipolar disorder proband groups.
