Applied voltages were modeled as constant electric fields along the transmembrane direction with a magnitude equal to the indicated voltage value divided by the value of the thickness of the dielectric barrier along the VSD axis (23 Å).

Total trajectory length was 4.33 μs; VSD swells with water and ions, resulting in non-selective permeation after 3.76 μs.
