Oligo-Fucoidan reduces CCL2 and IL-6 expression. CCL2 and IL-6 mRNA expression levels were examined in the p53^+/+ (a,c,e) and p53^−/− (b,d,f) cells. Cells treated with etoposide (40 μM) alone or etoposide and Oligo-Fucoidan (400 μg/ml) for 24 h were studied (a,b). The cells were pre-incubated with or without Oligo-Fucoidan for 6 h before being treated with etoposide for another 18 h (c,d). The cells were analyzed after being exposed to etoposide for only 6 h before being treated with Oligo-Fucoidan for another 18 h (e,f). The data represent the mean ± SD of three independent experiments. *p < 0.05; **p < 0.01; ***p < 0.001.
