1. Eliminate pituitary hypersecretory syndromes 2. Eliminate, reduce or control the tumor mass 3. Preserve the normal pituitary gland function 4. Preserve surrounding neural structures, including the optic apparatus, other cranial nerves and parasellar vasculature 5. Reduce or eliminate acute complications generated by the tumor 6. Reduce or eliminate the risk of tumor recurrence
