A new model of 75% ICR mice exhibits severe clinical manifestations. (A) Schematic representation of the surgeries and intestinal tissue collections. The distal 25 cm of the small intestine (∼75% of the small intestine) and cecum were resected in the 75% ICR model. The site of transection and anastomosis in sham surgery is also shown. The small and large intestines are divided into seven segments in this study and designated as D through C2. The middle 1 cm regions of the segments (gray boxes) were harvested for gene expression and histological analyses. (B) Kaplan–Meier survival curves for mice underwent 75% ICR (n=6) or sham operation (n=6). Statistical significance was assessed by log-rank test. (C) Mice were randomly assigned to un-operated control (Control), sham operation group (Sham) or those undergoing 75% ICR (ICR).
