Cell counts over six days in dependence on medium pH. Each data point represents the mean of ten wells. A RM ANOVA revealed significantly increased cell counts at alkaline pH (p<0.05, indicated by asterisks) with respect to the pH 7.4 group, starting on day four for pH 7.8. On day six, the count peaked for pH 8.4 with a factor of approx. 2.4 with respect to the pH 7.4 group.
