Based on a semi-quantitative analysis with the Metamorph image analysis software (Molecular devices, Sunnyvale, CA, USA), VEGF expression was greater in groups 1 and 2, and the difference was statistically significant between group 1 and group 2. This suggests that VEGF was expressed more abundantly when ADSCs were injected immediately before the composite graft procedure, rather than 7 days before surgery (^**P<0.01).
