Tumor node metastasis status: T1, tumor invades submucosa; T3, growth into the outermost layers of the colon. pN0, no malignant lymph nodes; pN1, cancer cells are found in one to three lymph nodes; pN1a, cancer cells in one regional lymph node; pN1b, cancer cells in two to three regional lymph nodes; pN2, cancer cells in four or more regional lymph nodes; pN2a, cancer cells are found in four to six lymph nodes. Relapse after 3 mo to 6 mo postsurgery.
