Representative folding (black) and unfolding (grey) kinetic traces recorded for PDZ3Δα3, the lines are the best fit to a single exponential decay. Panel B. The logarithmic values of the folding and unfolding rate constant of PDZ3 (empty circles) and PDZ3Δα3 (filled circles) were plotted and fitted to a two-state folding equation. The experiments suggest that truncation of α3 decreases the stability of the native state by increasing the unfolding rate constant.
