Experimental design. Day 1: initial learning of Set 1; Day 8: reactivation (Re) of initially learned pictures and/or new learning (NL) of Set 2 (depending on the condition). If participants did not reach the learning criterion on Day 1 or Day 8, the set was repeated once: (→ Set 1) or (→ Set 2). Set 3 was intermixed with Set 1 and Set 2 in the recognition test, and was a set of pictures that was never seen. Day 1 and Day 9 were identical for all participants.
