A) Schematic of experimental procedure. PEDOT:PSS scaffolds were placed in PDMS coated well plates, fixed with insect pins, and preconditioned in FBS for 4 days prior to cell seeding. MC3T3-E1 were cultured in growth media for 7 days, followed by differentiation in osteogenic media for 21 days. After a total culture period of 28 days, a white cell membrane was visible on the scaffolds by naked eye. B) Gene expression of osteogenesis related genes. qPCR was accomplished on day 1, 7 and 28 for ALPL, COL1A1 and RUNX2. Gene expression was normalised to the house keeping gene 18S and to non-differentiated MC3T3-E1 on TCPS (day 0). *P < 0.05, N = 4 with three replicates each, resulting in n = 12 scaffolds.
