(Colour online) (a) ALE formulation: density plot of the magnitude of the Lagrangian-mean velocity for a bulk acoustic wave device, where the vertical walls are actuated as indicated in (5.1)–(5.4). The red lines represent the streamlines of the Lagrangian-mean velocity. (b) ALE formulation: plot of the x component of different velocity fields away from the left wall (at x=0) along a horizontal line at y=100 μm. At the oscillating wall (i.e. x =0), the Eulerian velocity is equal and opposite to the Stokes drift, thereby yielding a zero Lagrangian velocity at the oscillating wall, representing no flow across the wall.
