TABLE 1.

Criteria for the metabolic syndrome are listed below and can be any three of more.

Criteria list Components
Central obesity > 90th percentile, age and gender specific
FBG ≥ 5.6 mmol/L (100 mg/dL) or known type 2 diabetes
Hypertension ≥ 90th percentile for age, sex and height
TG ≥ 1.24 mmol/L (110 mg/dL)
HDL-C ≤ 1.04 mmol/L (40 mg/dL)
