Mitochondrial ATP production.

Cells were grown in glucose-containing medium only (GLU) or in the presence of 1 μM quinone analogues; coenzyme Q₁ (CoQ1), coenzyme Q₁₀ (CoQ10), decylubiquinone (DQ) or idebenone (Idb). Mitochondrial ATP content was measured after digitonin treatment and incubation with glutamate and malate. The relative luminescence (RLU) was normalized to cell growth (MB A620) and the results are presented as the mean ± SEM (^#P < 0.05 effect of m.11778G>A compared with controls (n = 5); *P < 0.05 effect of additive).
