EPEC induces the internalization of the basolateral protein Na+/K+ ATPase and its redistribution to the apical membrane in an EspF-dependent manner. SKCO-15 cells were infected wild-type EPEC, ΔespF, ΔespF/pespFD3 or complemented strain (ΔespF/pespF) for 2–3h, and monolayers immunostained for Na+/K+ ATPase.
