It consists of three steps. (A) We know the abundances of S* species within a given region covering a fraction p* of the whole forest. (B) We perform the best fit (maximum likelihood) of the SAD (an NB or an LS). (C) Using the best-fit parameters obtained in (B) and using our upscaling Eqs. 11 and 15, we predict the biodiversity Spred of the whole forest.
