The 90 min rapid protocol requires microwaving the gel and staining solution for 3 × 30 sec, or alternatively incubating the gel at 80°C for 30 min followed by subsequent destaining. This protocol will result in decreased maximum fluorescence signal compared to the overnight protocol, however it will also result in lower background, thus enabling ~0.25ng sensitivities on 1-D gels.
