Figure 4

Virulence of CR-KP NSSTI isolates in a subcutaneous infection model. C57BL/6 mice were infected subcutaneously with approximately 5 × 106 CFU of the indicated KP strains. (A) Abscess areas were measured up to 96 h post-infection. Data are expressed as means ± SEM. p values were derived from comparisons of each group to the MGH78578 infected group at specified time points (one-way ANOVA with Bonferroni’s multiple comparison correction; *p ≤ 0.05). Bacterial burdens in the abscess (B) and the livers (C) were determined at 96 h post-infection (hpi). Each symbol represents the bacterial CFU recovered from a single mouse. Solid bars denote the median CFU, and the dashed line indicates the limit of detection (100 CFU). p values were derived from the comparisons of each group to the MGH78578 infected group via the Mann-Whitney U test. *p ≤ 0.05. Data are combined from 3 independent experiments (n = 9 for each group).
