Characterization was performed on E. coli DH5 alpha pir cells transformed with this plasmid in the absence (-STAR) and presence (+STAR) of a plasmid encoding cognate STAR. Deoxyviolacein production was characterized by solvent extraction and spectral quantification of deoxyviolacein (measured in units of OD at 575 nm).
