Levallois platform must allow both the extraction of flakes oblique with respect to the plane of intersection to prepare and maintain convexities and Levallois flakes parallel or sub-parallel to the plane of intersection of the two surfaces. This is a key criterion to distinguish Levallois and non-Levallois cores.
