Experiments in panels A–C were done in fresh media. D. Dose-response curve of the serotonin sensor detecting exogenously added serotonin to plain yeast spent media that has been adjusted for glucose (0.4%) and tryptophan (100 mg/L) content. All experiments were done in triplicate and the error bars represent the standard deviation from the mean. In all cases, fluorescence was normalized to the response of the sensor to no serotonin or no pathway intermediates. Inset shows linear range of the response.
