Diminished RSs result in short flagella. (A) Flagellar-length (Fla. length) distribution of three pf14 strains cultured in minimal media. The defect in the RSP3 gene of cc613 and cc2496 that were derived from one common isolate was identical. Only flagella of cc613 were particularly short, and this was exacerbated at late log phase (day 5). The length phenotype and paralysis were rescued by a RSP3 transgene.
