Injury to the peritonium induces activation of Src, which subsequently leads to activation of multiple profibrotic signaling pathways (i.e. TGFβ/smad3, EGFR), induction of proinflammatory responses (i.e. activation of NF-kB, production of multiple cytokines) and promotion of angiogenesis via increasing VEGF production. All these responses can be inhibited by KX2-391, a highly selective Src inhibitor.
