Cyclic strain leads to an increase in α-SMA and type I collagen gene expression. qPCR reveals a linear increase with strain in both (a) α-SMA (R2 = 0.6794, p = 0.001) and (b) type I collagen gene expression (R2 = 0.5674, p = 0.0191).
