Age is summarized as mean ± SD and compared with the Mann-Whitney test. The remaining categorical variables are summarized as n (%) and compared using the Fisher exact test.

ACE = angiotensin-converting enzyme; ARB = angiotensin receptor blocker; DCM = dilated cardiomyopathy; NYHA = New York Heart Association; TTNtv = truncating variants in the titin gene.

Patients with a history of alcohol consumption in excess of the U.K. government weekly “sensible limits.” Patients meeting criteria for alcoholic cardiomyopathy were excluded from the cohort.

Missing data in 31 patients (4.3%).
