Effects of lithium and tamoxifen on BDNF, NGF, and GDNF expression in the hippocampus 10 days after pneumococcal meningitis induction. BDNF (a), NGF (b), and GDNF (c) levels were assessed by ELISA, and the results are presented in pg per μg of protein, with n = 5 per group. All data are reported as the means ± SEM. These results were analyzed by two-way ANOVA, followed by the Tukey post hoc test. ^∗P < 0.05 indicates the statistical significance of the control/saline group and ^#P < 0.05 indicates the statistical significance of the meningitis/saline group.
