Spatiotemporal response plots for four DNIII neurons. (A) The spatiotemporal tuning of DNIII2 (as presented in Fig. 6C). This is repeated to allow direct comparison with the cells below. (B,C) Spatiotemporal response profiles for three neurons that were anatomically of the DNIII-type but without detailed dendrites, making specific identification difficult. The plots are arranged in such a way that the peak spatial frequency sensitivity declines from (AD). Therefore, the cell in (D) is tuned to lower spatial frequencies than the other three recordings. White diagonal lines indicate constant speeds, as indicated by the values printed on the plots (50, 100, 200, 400 and 800°/s). Color bars to the right indicate the mean number of spikes/s in the plots.
