DSM-5 Criteria for Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia Nervosa

Restriction of energy intake leading to significantly low body weigth in the context of age, gender and developmental age Recurrent episodes of binge eating: eating an amount of food in a discrete period of time which is larger than most people would eat under similar circumstances with a sense of loss of control
Intense fear of gaining weight or fatness, or perstistent behaviors aimed at weight loss Recurrent compensatory behaviours in order to prevent weight gain, including vomiting, laxative abuse, diuretics, enemas, excessive exercise and other medication misuse.
Self evaluation is unduly influenced by weight and shape Self evaluation is unduly influenced by weight and shape
Restricting sub-type: There are no episodes of binge-eating or purging
Binge-purging sub-type: Episodes of binge-eating and/or purging accompany the above criteria.
Binge eating and compensatory behaviours occur on average at least once a week for three months, and in the absence of Anorexia Nervosa.
