CELF-pretreated corn stover solids were added to flasks all at once, in two batches, or in three batches, resulting in different effective glucan and enzyme loadings during the first 3 d. Glucan and enzyme loadings were the same at the end of all fermentations at 7 g of glucan and 5 mg protein·g glucan⁻¹, respectively.
