Timescale of nucleosome unwrapping. The time scale of nucleosome unwrapping is characterized by the autocorrelation function, $⟨\widehat{\text{𝒖}}(0)\widehat{\text{𝒖}}(t)⟩$, where $\widehat{\text{𝒖}}$ corresponds to the orientation of the 30 bp of entering nucleosomal DNA. The autocorrelation function is fit well to a two-exponential decay, $A{e}^{-t/{\tau }_a}+(1-A)e^{-t/\tau }$, where ${\tau }_a$ is a short time scale and $\tau$ is the time scale of interest.
