Early life emotional abuse does not predict negative urgency. Early life emotional abuse significantly predicts brooding. There was an indirect effect of early life emotional abuse on negative urgency through brooding for individuals possessing 5-HTT low expressing genotypes. There was no indirect effect of early life emotional abuse on negative urgency through brooding for individuals possessing 5-HTT high expressing genotypes (not shown; indirect effect: −0.004 (0.04)).
