Tregs in peripheral blood of chronic HBV-infected patients and healthy volunteers. (a) Direct ex vivo flow cytometry staining experiment from a representative chronic HBV patient using antibodies against CD4 and FoxP3. Cells were gated on lymphocyte on the basis of forward and side scatter properties. The isotype-matched antibodies were used as controls. Number indicates the percentage of cells in the indicated region. (b) Percentage of Tregs (CD4+FoxP3+T cells within CD4+T cell fraction) of distinct immune phase was determined by FACS staining of PBMC of 124 chronic HBV patients and 38 healthy volunteers.
