Nested PCR of the rpoB gene (and of the 16S rRNA gene as a control) was performed as described in Materials and Methods. Positive (+) and negative (−) results out of three replicates are shown (each symbol reflects one replicate). Where only one or two symbols are shown, three replicates could not be analyzed because of a low DNA yield.
