Growth curves of the wild type or mutants grown in increasing concentrations of copper sulfate. Strains were grown overnight in LB, washed with M9 glucose minimal medium, diluted to an OD of 0.01 in M9 glucose, and grown highly aerated at 37°C until reaching an OD of 0.2. Each strain was then inoculated 1:50 into a 96-well plate containing a total of 250 μl M9 glucose with the indicated concentration of CuSO₄. The OD₄₅₀ at 30-min intervals is plotted. The data are representative of three independent experiments. The strains used were 14028, JS2089, JS2087, JS2086, JS2091, and JS2092.
