Distributional pattern of Gα_olf proteins in striatal medium spiny neurons (MSNs) that form the basal ganglia circuit. Gα_olf proteins are colocalized with DA D₁ receptors (D₁Rs) in the striatonigral MSNs (D1-cells), and with adenosine A_2A receptors (A_2ARs) in striatopallidal MSNs expressing DA D₂ receptors (D₂Rs; D2-cells). The striatonigral and striatopallidal pathways arising from the striosome are omitted in this scheme.
