Relative rate of expression of groES and groEL validate the run-out of mRNA after rifampicin addition in D457 and ALB001 strains. Strains D457 and ALB001 were cultivated in LB medium at 37 °C. At 0.6 OD600nm rifampicin was added to 200 mg/L to inhibit transcription by RNA polymerase. At different time points, aliquots were taken for RNA extraction and the relative amount of groES and groEL mRNAs was measured by real-time RT-PCR. Values indicate the decrease of the mRNA levels observed as a function of time after rifampicin addition (time 0) and correspond to the average of two independent assays; the standard error is shown.
