Quinalizarin reduces the CK2 kinase activity in lung cancer cells. (A) The chemical structure of Quinalizarin. (B) A549 or H460 cells were treated with DMSO or 25 μM Quinalizarin for 6 or 24 h. The CK2 kinase activity after inhibition was measured by the kinase assay. Proteins were extracted and the CK2 activity was determined using the incorporation of 32P-phosphate into the synthetic substrate RRRDDDSDDD. The cells treated with the solvent DMSO alone were used as a control and the activity was set to 100%. (***p < 0.001) The mean ± S.D. was calculated for three independent experiments. (C) The protein expression of CK2α,α’ and β was measured by Western blot. The mean ± S.D. was calculated for three independent experiments.
