Peripheral blood mononuclear cells were analyzed by flow cytometry prior to BD induction (T0) and 6 hours after (T6), at organ recovery. (A) Changes in neutrophil, monocyte and myeloid dendritic cells in blood from brain death induction (T0) to 360 minutes (T6) post-induction. (B) Changes in neutrophil expression of IL-1β, IL-8 and MIP1a between T0 and T6 and (C) changes in monocyte expression of IL-1β, IL-6 and CCL3 (MIP-1a) between T0 and T6 in all groups. (D) Quantification of pro-inflammatory cytokine levels in serum between T0 and T6 was performed by ELISA. Data expressed as mean percent change from baseline ± SEM.
