Identification of a putative new glutelin with a preferential embryo accumulation. (A) Boxplots of protein abundances (log2 transformed) for the 10 glutelins that are commonly detected in the endosperm (A0, dark red) and the embryo (E0, blue). The Glu-X protein corresponds to a newly discovered glutelin which is the only glutelin more abundant in the embryo although not significantly. Significantly different means are indicated according to the z-score analysis with p-values inferior to 0.01 (**) or 0.05 (*). (B) Close-up view of the conserved cleavage site of glutelin precursor into acidic and basic subunits. The GluC-1 protein sequence does not exibit the characteristic NG motif.
